Cold to hot, Florentyna Parker cards a 67 in first round of Omega Dubai Ladies Masters
Despite the frozen home ground golfing conditions, Florentyna Parker managed to tackle the hot desert conditions efficiently and stood with a 5 stroke lead over the golfer from Ireland.
The female golfer from Germany played the initial round of the Omega Dubai Ladies Masters in contention with Hazel Kavanagh, who followed her intently throughout the first round to overcome Parker’s 5 shot frontage.
The Irish golfer appeared at the 72 par GC to combat Florentyna Parker along with her compatriot Martina Gillen and Rebecca Coakley. Gillen collected a total of 76 at the first round of the Masters while Coakley was seen fighting off a gigantic amount of
startling bogeys.
Coakley stood 4 strokes behind Gillen, who was initially attacked by a triple bogey and then a further 5 more to be marked as rather colossal.
With Gillen displaying a decent score on the leader board, Tara Delaney ended the same round with an 81 on her score card.
From the Irish front, Kavanagh was one of the leading female golfers at the Majlis course at the Emirates Golf Club. According to her score card, the Irish woman adorned her record with a sizeable amount of classic birdies but the embellishment was a bit
shilly-shally as compared to Parker’s score card.
From Parker’s side, the German managed to play with searing swiftness right from the start of the tournament and managed to collect a total of 5 birdies from her first seven holes.
As for the 10th hole, the golfer from Hamburg carded one more standard birdie only to add another one at the 11th hole of the Majlis. Ignoring the 12th hole for a while, the 13th hole of her game was played at
a 540 yard area, which led her to save one amazing putt at the 14th hole of the GC.
According to Parker, the overall game had been very entertaining. The winner of the Women’s European Tour title displayed remarkable form at the Dubai Championship and tackled the melting conditions with a lot of practice at the Al Badia Golf Club nearby.
‘Flory’ thus practiced at the Al Badia GC for over a fortnight and learned to adapt to the boiling heat of Dubai which is completely adverse to the weather conditions in Germany. The leader thus managed to card an impressive 67 with a 5 under to end the
first round of the Omega Dubai Ladies Masters 2010.
