Liverpool midfielder http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Joe-Cole-c18694 let out his ambition of embarking on a new journey with the Reds, under new manager Brendan Rodgers and claimed that he wants to be part of the Merseyside club’s revival process.
The English International, who signed a four-year deal with the Reds in July 2010, remained a victim of neglect under former boss Kenny Dalglish, failing to stake his claim in the starting line-up. Keeping in view his limited impact at Anfield, which saw
him score just 3 goals during the 2010/11 season, the 30-year old was sent on a season-long loan to the Ligue 1 outfit Lille in August, 2011.
Following the completion of his deal with Lille, the midfielder made a return to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 and is currently a part of the Reds squad for their pre-season friendly matches.
After failing to emulate his successes at http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 and West Ham United at Anfield, Cole revealed that he was seeking a fresh start under the Northern Irishman, and vowed to write a new chapter in his Liverpool career this coming season.
While talking to reporters, he said: “I am only looking forward. Everything I have done in my career is in the bank and has been and gone. But I want to write new chapters… I’m looking forward to the season and we will go from there. It was great to pull
on the shirt again.”
Liverpool experienced a calamitous league campaign last term, which saw them finish in the eighth position in the league table. Consequently, the club’s owners sacked Dalglish from his management post, and brought Rodgers as his replacement, in order to
reverse the dreary situation at Anfield.
With the former Swansea City boss aiming to revive http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809’s dominance in English football, Cole unravelled his ambition of playing his part in the reinvigoration process, and admitted that the Reds need to at least restore their status in the Champions
League.
“The fans are intelligent. They know (finishing) sixth, seventh and eighth in the last three seasons isn’t good enough. But we are a work in progress now and we have got the right man in charge.”
He also mentioned that it was not traditional for Liverpool to change managers, and called upon the owners to stick with Rodgers for the next couple of years.
