Liverpool midfielder, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Joe-Cole-c18694 admitted that he wants to leave his imprint at Anfield during his second spell, after the English International completed his loan spell with the Ligue 1 side Lille.
The 30-year old experienced an ordinary first stint with the Reds during the 2010/11 season, after signing a four year deal with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 as a free agent. He made 32 appearances for the club in total, and only managed to score 3 goals. Subsequently, he
was sent to France to represent Lille on a season-long loan.
Following Kenny Dalglish’s sacking by the club’s owners last week, the English footballer was hopeful of securing a place in the squad under the new management. Cole revealed that he found it difficult to cope with the pressure of meeting the fans expectations
during his first stint at Anfield, but felt that he is better prepared now to meet the challenges ahead of him.
While talking to reporters, he said: “There is still a part of me that would really love to make it work there and I don’t want to have a bad spell at Anfield on my CV. But it is out of my hands now. At the minute I can’t rule anything in or out.”
The midfielder also made an assessment of the city, pointing out that it has got a great buzz and is full of people with sharp minds. He opined that even though it is a small city, its inhabitants have the traits and the attributes quite similar to those
of the Londoners.
Cole, who has also represented the Premier League outfits of West Ham United and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 during his career, enjoyed a remarkable one year spell with Lille, scoring 9 goals in 42 appearances.
Speaking of his time at http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/France-c2899, Cole termed it as a valuable experience and believed that the French teams have got a more tactical approach towards the game unlike the Premier League clubs.
He also indicated that the slow nature of Ligue 1 suited him nicely, and helped him rediscover his confidence.
Nevertheless, Cole admitted that he will have to make quick adjustments at Liverpool to accustom himself once again to the fast nature of the Premier League, and termed Ligue 1 as one of the best competitions in Europe.
He remarked, “I will have to do extra work because it will be going back to that 100mph pace but I’m sure it will be okay.”
“It [Ligue 1] is comparable with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Italy-c2926. This is a very good league. Now I have got to keep thinking ahead”
