The 24-year old left-back has been on Coleman’s radar for quite some time now, as the Red Dragons boss looks to bolster his defensive front ahead of his team’s World Cup qualifiers.
However, the move has been impeded by the fact that Shawcross and the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Wales-c3041 skipper, Ramsey do not enjoy the best of relationships.
Back in February 2010, the former committed a rash tackle on the latter during a Premier League match between Stoke City and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Arsenal-c38429, which resulted in a double fracture in the midfielder’s right leg. Consequently, he remained out of action for almost nine
months.
Earlier, Coleman’s antecedent, Gary Speed, who died in November last year, had also tried to mend the relations between the two players, but to little avail.
However, the former Fulham boss wants everyone to adopt a professional approach towards his decision of pursuing the defender. He underscored that the World Cup qualifiers were just around the corner, and he was not willing to allow personal grudges affect
his selection process.
He told the reporters in an interview, “The bottom line is that we want to go to http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Brazil-c2858. How are we going to do that? Well, we need the best players we can possibly get our hands on.”
“Ryan is a Premier League centre-back and has been for two or three seasons in the toughest league in the world.”
Nevertheless, the manager unravelled that he did not expect the duo to get on the best of terms. He maintained that he just wants them to act in a professional manner, and take the best interest of their country into consideration.
Meanwhile, Ramsey has revealed that he has already put the incident involving him and Shawcross behind him, and will have no problems with any of his manager’s selections.
He said, “I'm over what has happened. And I've moved on. It's up to the manager to do what he feels is right for the team. It's his decision.”
The Red Dragons, who have been stationed in Group A of the World Cup Qualifiers, will open their campaign against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Serbia-c3002 on the 11th of September.
