Everton full-back Seamus Coleman was delighted when the Toffees moved up to 4th place after the 2-1 win over Tottenham Hotspur on Sunday night.
Trailing by a deflected Clint Dempsey goal, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Everton-c39043 looked like they would be unable to salvage anything from the game, and looked set to extend their non-winning run to 5 games.
Tottenham in contrast were on a winning run of 3 successive league games, and looked set to secure a 4th as they game wore on till stoppage time with the single Dempsey goal separating both sides.
However, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Nikica-Jelavic-c27906 shortly added another and gave his side the victory in a last gasp finish to the game.
The win marks Everton’s first in 4 games, and puts them at 4th place, trailing http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 by 3 points. Full-back Seamus Coleman was delighted to see his side climb up the fourth spot. The player provided the cross for Pienaar’s goal and had an impressive
night for the Toffees.
Speaking to the club’s official website, he said:
“It was a big game and a massive few points. Before the game I as at home looking at the table and it occurred to me that a win could really put us up there but with a defeat we were looking at maybe dropping down to ninth.”
“I thought during first half, ‘here we go again’. We were making chances and not taking them. I got into a few good positions myself and probably didn’t get the cross in I’d have liked, so that’s why in the end I was pleased I got my heard up and picked
out Pienaar.”
The game marked Coleman’s return to the team from injury for the first time since November’s defeat at Reading. The player is now hopeful of building on the team’s impressive start to the 2012/2013 campaign.
Everton next travel to the Britannia Stadium to face Stoke City, who are currently 9th with 23 points to their name. The game is set to be a tough and physical encounter for the Toffees, who will be eager to seal a second consecutive win and stay
in the top 4 going into the new year.
