i had to put my filly down at least the trainer who was looking after her i feel i was wripped off she had not passed any wind or anything yet at the time in his the vets word was nibbling and on her feet i said to my trainer that i could not afford to operate on her at $5000 upwards and stated if it was a lost cause then do it

i think she was put down when she did not have to be what do you think she was tubed only twice in 14 hrs

  1. Well if she had anything going on that would indicate surgery was the only option and you said you could not afford surgery then that was the only choice left. I'm sorry for your loss and been through it myself. Had a horse with a displacement and on the way to a surgery he got worse. All the pre-surgical tests where the worst the hospital had ever seen. (Fluid from the belly tap was black) Was with him from the start of the colic, in fact had been there all day, vet was on scene within 30 minutes and stayed with me all night.. He was oiled, given IV fluids, we did it all. I guess the biggest problem was that my horse was so stoic he exhibited minimal pain. I made the choice I felt was best for my horse at that point but it broke my heart. It might make you feel better to talk directly to your vet and find out exactly what her circumstances were. I doubt they would of put her down if they thought she had a chance without surgery.
