Colin Edwards of Monster Yamaha Tech3 enthused to resume racing at Brno event – MotoGP news
Monster Yamaha Tech3 rider Colin Edwards is looking forward to get racing at Brno, Czech Republic in the upcoming Cardion AB Grand Prix.
The first event of the second half of the 2011 MotoGP season will be held on August 14, 2011.
Presently, the Texan holds eighth position in the MotoGP world championship rankings. Edwards is positioned behind two compatriots, Ben Spies, sixth and Nicky Hayden, seventh. For Brno, his aim is to finish the race within the top six.
Edwards said, “I am really excited about going to Brno, even though it has never been a great track for me for some reason. But it is the start of the second half of the season and I can't wait to get back on my Monster Yamaha Tech 3 machine.”
Earlier in the season, he has displayed consistency in race finishes with seven top ten results. His season’s best result is a podium finish in the wet British Grand Prix after returning from an injury. He broke his collarbone during the Catalunya race weekend.
The Texan rider spent his summer break with his family at Boot Camp. He was also accompanied by his Tech3 squad and spent some good time racing at the camp.
After the Laguna Seca, he is now ready to resume the MotoGP action at the Brno event. Although he has not won any race at the venue but he has been able to collect decent points.
Edwards added, “Looking ahead to this weekend, I've had some decent results at Brno but nothing really great. I've never scored a top six there so I'll be aiming to put that right on Sunday. We've struggled with set-up issues since Sachsenring and nothing
has gone fantastic since then.”
Edwards is aiming to improve his Tech3 M1 setup at Brno in order to get better in the next half of the season. He is also waiting for the second home event taking place later in August 2011 at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
