Colin Edwards positive to finish inside top six in 2011 MotoGP pre-season tests – MotoGP news
Monster Yamaha rider Colin Edwards managed a ninth position on the time charts and also stood ninth on overall positions in the 2011 MotoGP pre-season tests.
After the test ended on February 3, 2011, Edwards felt the machine has more powerful engine than its last year’s model. He also claims to benefit more out of the chassis as its efficiently manoeuvrable. It is a great advantage for the
rider to hang on to lead. Edwards is positive to claim a position in top-six places, as he ended the first test session at Sepang.
Colin Edwards and teammate Cal Crutchlow are riding 2010 Factory Yamaha. Cal Crutchlow was caught in incident in the early test session days. Crutchlow stood 15th third day and 16th overall on time chart.
Edwards said, “It was good to get back to work with the Monster Yamaha Tech 3 Team and I am really happy with the development that Yamaha has done on the bike for 2011. It has improved in every area and it was great to get back up to speed so quickly
and post consistent and competitive lap times on each day.”
He added, “The engine is a big improvement in terms of power and the chassis helps me turn much better than I could before, so in all aspects I am happy and confident that I can have a strong season. Looking at the field there is some unbelievable
talent but I feel really motivated to repeat some of the strong results I had in 2009.”
Edwards is clear about the talent playing on track and knows the competitors are fully prepared for this season. Still he is optimistic to mark some wins this season for his team.
He said it is not going to be an easy task but he hope that it will not be impossible for him to fight for the top six with the help of his team. He said he was looking forward to getting on the track again later this month in order to fine-tune the
bike for the first race of the 2011 MotoGP season.
