Colin Edwards reckons major improvements needed with Suter-BMW machine – MotoGP news
The MotoGP veteran, Colin Edwards wants drastic improvements in the Forward Racing’s BMW-powered Suter machine.
The Texan rider had a test outing aboard the CRT machine at Jerez circuit. He spent a lot of time testing and assuming the potential of the motor. Edwards seemed to be satisfied with the initial performance of the bike, but feels the need of improvements
in the setup.
Edwards said, “The bike is better than I thought it was going to be and it definitely has a lot more potential than what we are showing right now. I’ve jumped on a lot of bikes in my career and made a lot of them work and this bike has the ability to work.”
The American rider is optimistic about the changes that will enhance the performance of the bike. He has spent major part of his career in improving several machines. It will be a reuse of his talent about the 1000cc machines.
The Texan added on that he has managed to work with even worse starts. However, the time to work on the project is crucial and till the end of January it will be sufficient, hopefully. After spending some time with the bike, it will be easier to develop
the bike for 2012.
The Texas Tornado added, “Electronics are the biggest area we need to work on. Right now I’m just not able to ride with any confidence. This is an area where the factories have got a huge advantage and I know coming recently off the Yamaha how long it took
them to reach the stage where they are now.”
While commenting on the development of the MotoGP factory prototypes he said that they have spent plenty of time to achieve such perfections in the electronics.
Consider the names of Valentino Rossi, Jorge Lorenzo, Ben Spies and Edwards, Yamaha has gathered huge amount of information from the riders to develop a competitive machine.
Looking at the present situation of the Forward Racing, the team is lagging several years behind. It seems that it will take about couple of seasons to close the time gap with those factory beasts.
