Colin Ingram gets picked for ODI’s
Colin Ingram from South Africa has been picked for the ODI series against http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Zimbabwe-c3045 side. Heino Kuhn has been picked up
as the wicket keeper in place of an injured AB de Villiers’ for the Twenty20 series to be held against Zimbabwe.
However the world class all rounder from http://www.senore.com/Cricket/South-Africa-c757 Jacques Kallis has been left out for the squad since the board feel it is necessary for him to get his rest ahead of the 2011 world cup next year. Most teams are looking to consolidate their sides ahead
of the World Cup to be held in the subcontinent. Another exclusion from the South African squad has to be http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Dale-c52110 Steyn the spearhead fast bowler for the team who has performed brilliantly this year. Kallis has been rested due to a neck injury and had to withdraw
from the 2010 Champions league Twenty20, taking advice from the official medical team of South African Cricket.
"They are two key players for the ICC World Cup next year and we need to manage them carefully," the selection convener from South Africa Andrew Hudson said. "The next ICC World Twenty20 is 18 months away and this also provides us the opportunity to look
at several younger players."
Hudson stated that Ingram who has been playing in the ongoing champions league for the Warriors definitely deserves a spot with the national side and on the international arena terming his performance as "outstanding cricket in both MTN40 and Standard Bank
Pro20 domestic competitions."
Ingram scored 600 runs at an average of 60 in the year 2009/10 MTN 40 chart, that includes a ton and five half centuries at a whopping strike rate of 103.62. He followed that performance with another display of sheer cricketing class with 283 runs in the
2010 Pro20 and a mind blowing strike rate of 144. The Warriors then went on to win both the tournaments and were by far the best team to have competed.
Rusty Theron and Robin Peterson, fast bowler and left arm spinner respectively have also found their slot with the National side however they have been left out of the ODI squad. Theron was previously part of South African side which played in the World
Twenty20 however he did not get a chance to play a match.
