Colin Kolles: We want to reduce gap to the midfield in last eight rounds – Formula 1 news
Hispania Racing Team boss Colin Kolles has said that they want to continue the fight in the 2011 Formula 1 season in order to reduce the massive gap of points from the strong teams in the last eight rounds.
Kolles added that it is a fact his team drivers made improvements in terms of performance race-by-race in the ongoing season.
The team principal discussed the HRT drivers’ qualities and mentioned that Vitantonio Liuzzi is a well-experienced driver in the team at the moment and that he is going to take part in his 74th Grand Prix at the Spa-Francorchamps
next weekend. In addition, he stated that he is really good fighter of the team and can produce good results for them in the last eight rounds of the season.
Other than Liuzzi, Kolles talked about his teammate Daniel Ricciardo. He added that Ricciardo is very talented driver and that he showed since the time of joining HRT that he is a quick leaner. He further said that he is sure the youngest driver just needs
to learn the sport more and after that, he will definitely perform very well for them.
Kolles commented, “Three races later, Daniel will start his fourth grand prix in Spa and is gaining very valuable knowledge and experience with every lap he completes behind the wheel. Sometimes young drivers don't know what to expect.”
He went on to mention, “All professional races are a good challenge for well-trained drivers. In the end, mentally speaking for a driver, a race remains a race and it requires a very sharp focus exercise. Racing and getting kilometres under your belt are
always a benefit.”
Apart from that, he informed the media that they are planning to introduce some new upgrades for the next two rounds of the 2011 F1 season, which are scheduled to be held in Belgium and Italy respectively.
Kolles said that the new owners of HRT are working well for them and that he believes they will soon plan a better programme for the encouraging future of the Spanish team in Formula 1.
Let’s see how HRT perform in the final eight rounds of the season after coming back from the 2011 summer break.
