Colin Kolles blames inexperienced drivers for HRT’s poor debut season
The HRT Team boss Colin Kolles believes that it was the poor choice of drivers for the 2010 season that has brought a lack of success to the team.
While talking to the media earlier today (Wednesday) the boss declared that both the team drivers at the start of the season, Bruno Senna and Karun Chandhok, were inexperienced, and the team had to pay for this unwise choice.
The 2010 season saw the team for the first time on the Formula One track along with two rookie drivers and the least competitive car on the grid. As the season ended it stood only ahead of the other rookie team, Virgin, at 11th place in the constructors'
championship, without having bagged a single point all through the season.
Although, the Brazilian driver, Senna stayed on the track all through the season, his teammates kept on changing every now and then.  The Indian driver, Chandhok had his last race this season at the Silverstone circuit, and was not seen again in any of the
races till the end of the season. While more experienced, Sakon Yamamoto and Christian Klien, kept exchanging the cockpit for the remaining races.
Looking back at various incidents of the season, Kolles believes that although the season was a tough one for the team yet they had been the most reliable rookie team of 2010. Moreover, the principal of the Spanish team believes that the squad could have
finished at tenth place, ahead of both the other rookie teams of this year, Lotus and Virgin, only if it had more experienced drivers.
While explaining his point of view to the media he said, "I think that in testing we showed quite a good performance in relation to the other new teams.”
There have been a lot of speculations in the past few weeks suggesting a likely collision of HRT or that the team is ready to be sold out. It initially broke off with its car manufacturer Dallara, and recently the deal signed with its new 2011 partner, Toyota
has also ended. With little time left to prepare their next season’s car, it is believed that 2011 is also going to see a very uncompetitive HRT package on the tracks.
However, Kolles is still hopeful as he says, "We are working to have a better package than last year. Obviously this depends on a lot of factors but we are working to achieve our goals."
