Colin Montgomerie's predictions about Tiger Woods came true

The former world number one, Tiger Woods, made his start to the 2012 European Tour season through Abu Dhabi HSBC Golf Championship.
Woods went out of the top-50 in the Official World Golf Rankings last year because of his winless performances in the past two years.
He suffered injuries in an accident in 2009, followed by the marital issues that led to the dissolution of his marriage.
Therefore, he was not able to concentrate on his game and even missed several events in the last two seasons. Consequently, he lost each and every event he participated in, slumping down the rankings with the passage of time.
A time came when the golf analysts started believing that his golfing career had ended and there is nothing left in him.
That was the time when Woods made a U-turn to his last two years’ performances and started to make a comeback in the sports world that he ruled for several years.
He registered a win at the end of the 2011 season in the 18-man field of Chevron World Challenge and surged to the 21st position in the world’s rankings.
He was at the 24th place when he planned to start his 2012 golf season, at the end of January. After a tough fight, the legend is now standing at the 2nd place in the OWGR.
European Tour star Colin Montgomerie was talking to the media at the start of the 2012 season. He said that he is seeing Woods back in the contention of the top position very soon. Woods proved him right.
Moreover, Montgomerie also stated that there is a possibility that Woods will succeed in increasing his major wins to 16 in the current season.
"A Tiger victory at the Masters would be the best story for golf," Montgomerie had said at that time. However, that mark could not be achieved.
When he was asked of his prediction of world’s number one at the end of the year, he replied with two names - Woods and Rory McIlroy. The former is currently at number two and the latter is at the number one spot.
"He [Woods] hasn't played that much in the last two years and so can move back up more quickly because of how the rankings work," he said.
The season is almost over. Nevertheless, Tiger Woods still has enough passion to reclaim his former crown. Moreover, the next season could be vital in securing more major titles.
