Golf Update: Colin Montgomerie vows to get his form back after the Ryder Cup Captaincy
After successfully winning the Ryder Cup, Colin Montgomerie is now heading off to grab a place in the world’s top 50 ranking.
Montgomerie is currently in Southern Malaysia for the Iskandar Johor Open is standing at an ordinary 417 in world ranking. An alarming number it is indeed, so much so that Montgomerie has now decided to turn his ranking around for good.
Montgomerie is highly determined to get back in his form and vows to enter the top 50 again. He was the number two in world ranking before and said that standing in the top 50 makes a golfer play all the Majors and World events as compared to those who are
not.
The Scot had performed exceptionally well as the Ryder Cup Captain this October but now wants to enter the field as a player. His goal is to start his journey to the top 50s bit by bit. Although he was the main brains behind the European victory, Montgomerie
now wants to play in the next Ryder Cup event a player.

“If you’re in the top 50 then you have more chances of playing”
He said that if the ranking of all the players are looked into, then all 24 players of the team were from the top 50 spot.
The forty seven year old has been able to achieve the second position in 5 majors till now and is currently focusing on getting his confidence back. The Scot says that wins are too early to think about and he currently he only needs to get his buoyancy back.
Some might say Montgomerie is being modest but the forty seven year old believes that he needs to excel at what he’s doing, he says he needs to work hard on his form and want to be ‘confident enough.
He labelled the Ryder Cup Captaincy as mentally draining and said that the amount practicing the other golfers are doing is something he can’t do. Montgomerie said that he didn’t have his focus on the game or on the practicing at all and believes that hitting
balls all day long has never been his forte.
