Coalition governments are here to stay in India because the days of single party rule are over.The reason is not too far behind to look for.With people in various political parties rebelling for one reason or another and splitting the parties and new entrants to the field of politics forming new parties (because everyone wants to be a leader with none to follow),no single party can hope to secure a clear mandate  from the masses.

Now coming to the second part of your question,the

present crisis is over for the time being,but for how long,no one can even venture a guess.The whole thing is like a ticking time bomb.The BJP is already burning midnight oil to light the fire under the present government to vacate and declare a general election which the BJP mistakenly thinks it can win with a comfortable majority.The Left parties are not far behind.

They don't mind tying up with even the devil if only to

kick the Congress out.I wouldn't be surprised if they were to put up Bin Laden for Prime Ministership if only to spite the Congress for the grand betrayal and for

keeping the BJP away from the seat of power.

You have now the whole scenario in a nut shell.The shell is the only thing left.The nuts are all busy plotting.
