Question:

Collage, is it to late???

I want to go to Yale university badly. I'm now becoming a Junior in high school. Unfortunately my grades have been like D's and maybe a C or two. If I were to get straight A's and take a lot of A.P. classes (Advanced Placement, looks good on a application.) and even did a ton of volunteer service, could I still get into Yale? Also is there anyway to raise my GPA high, is there any extra classes I can take like on-line classes for 16-17 years old. Please help!

P.S. I live in the United States, Washington.

  1. As much as I want to keep your hopes up, it'll be hard for you to get into Yale right now (unless you have connections), but it isn't too late to get into college.  You can get to Yale by having significant and appropriate coursework and research in your field of study then transferring over.

  2. Maybe not too late if you have a lot of cash.  It's like 40K a year.

  3. To be completely honest, if you can't spell college, you probably can't go to Yale.

  4. Well, unless a Yale faculty member or student happens to run across your question, I don't think any of us can give you an accurate answer. Those D's are not going to help, though. However, it's never late to start taking your studies seriously, so I would recommend that you start getting those straight A's, and put as much time as is needed to accomplish this goal; in the end, it'll be worth it, trust me, and always keep this formula in mind:

Hard Work + Dedication = Success

Even if you don't get into Yale, you'll get a quality education from any college you attend. I hope this helps :)

  5. Maybe you can try to go to a community college and increase your gpa for two years and then transfer to Yale.

  6. I have always believed that passion out weighs skill. It will be difficult to get into Yale, but it will take a lot of work and dedication. I think that if you are willing to put that much effort into it, they will see you have managed to get your act together and now are releasing your full potential. A.P. classes are difficult I myself have taken them, but they will look good on any application or resume. I also think volunteer hours would help, maybe you should also talk to your school consular about other ways to raise your GPA and going to school EVERY DAY wouldn't hurt either. I'm sure that you can do this, if you truly want to. Good luck.
