Question:

Collapsed Foundation Drain Tile

we started working on our basement the other day due to the fact it floods all the time. the water isnt coming from the walls so we thought it was coming from the floor. but it isnt. we noticed this after you dug it all up. anyways could it be that the drain tile collapsed? if it did where is this drain located at? we are pumping about 12-14 gallons of water a day out of the trench that we made. and it is getting annoying. any advise would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

  1. The drain tile runs around the footing of the foundation wall.  Sometimes it's just on the outside, but if properly installed there will be drain tile on both sides of the footing.  It should empty into a sump pit.  You would have a sump pump in the pit to remove the water.  If there is no pit, you may want to look into having one installed.  It sounds like your water table may have risen, and there is nowhere for the water to drain.  This may be a job best left to a pro.  Good luck.
