  1. I don't think it's babyish.  I'm obsessed but I'm 13, and I'm not a baby or a geek, or at least I hope not :)

To learn how to play the game, you should buy a pokemon deck and it will come with a rulebook.  That will tell you all the specific details.

I'll just give you a brief summary or else it'll take a mini book to get it all down.  Each player has 60 cards in their decks.  They have pokemon cards, energy cards, and trainer/supporter cards.  You use the pokemon cards to battle.  Below the picture of the pokemon, there are attack moves and the energy cost.  You must meet the required energy cost in order to use the move, but you can only put one energy per turn.  You subtract the damage from the opponent's pokemon's HP.  HP (at the top right corner) is the pokemon's health.  If you run out of HP, the pokemon is knocked out and you get a prize card.  There are six prize cards in all, and the player who gets all of them is the winner.  You may also use trainer/supporters to help you battle and you can evolve cards too.  Another thing is that you have to draw a card every turn, and if you run out of cards in your deck, you lose.

    Hope this helps!

  2. Personally, I'm 25 yo and I have been playing since I was 16.

If you want a detailed how-to-play, visit www.pokemon.com or even better www.go-pokemon.com, which is the official website for the Pokémon TCG.

Both contains a link that leads you to a How-To-Play section, with video and all!!

It's the best way to learn, by watching. I think, haha.

Or as one of the users said, you can buy a Theme Deck and read the rulebook that comes inside.

    Good Luck!!
