Collective Bargaining Agreement impact on Chicago White Sox – Part 4
Looking over worldwide draft:
One important new development which has proposed to make the worldwide draft more open is the establishment of a study committee, who will oversee all the formed system in an additional and more effective way.
This committee will work until 2014 as the new CBA expires, but the league will likely to extend its date as the teams have already started talking about this new rule which will eventually benefit every team in the coming days.
For the Chicago White Sox, it is too good to have a committee overlooking on all the international drafts. When some experts raised their voice and stated against this committee, the White Sox was the first franchise to denounce the criticism and said that
this is a very positive move forward by the Major League Baseball authorities, who has not only proposed a very good regulation but at the same time will keenly see the inflow of international players into the MLB.
To explain all the details of this new worldwide committee would be slight difficult as it contains many minor sub-clauses but on a different scale anybody can judge and understand this new study committee just studying how eager every international player
is to play in the MLB.
These international players have different agents and when they do express their desires to play, the MLB franchises sometimes end up paying them much higher money than the usual signings in the league.
During the suggestions session when the negotiations were in process, the current MLB commissioner Bud Selig agreed after other MLB officials issued concern over climbing bad economics of the league while this study committee will see all the happenings
from the top.
The MLB officials took up the matter of baseball recruitment from foreign especially from the Central American countries and Latin America that how this new committee will improve importing players from those regions.
The proposal of this new study committee was mutually singed by the MLB officials and MLB owners when they felt the very need of conveying the very message of establishing and implementing of a worldwide draft before the 2012 Major League Baseball season.
Earlier, many reports regarding the body of the debate on the worldwide draft through the final round of collective bargaining negotiations were pretty vague and do not give interesting observations with clear information to review this major move to a new
scheme of getting overseas baseball players into Major League.
Plenty of nations and concerned people potentially influenced by the organisation of a worldwide draft are momentous, and it is serving upon together the Commissioner's Office and the MLBPA to generate an all-encompassing, crystal clear consideration procedure
on the worldwide draft suggestion.
The committee, which will be formed to tackle the international draft applications during a season will also have sovereign representatives from countries that will be most affected by the execution of such a proposal, like Dominican Republic and Venezuela.
Overall this new proposal has many good aspects and majority of the teams are looking very anxious to see as how it will impact on the worldwide draft next season. The Chicago White Sox is also sitting at ease with no major worries for the upcoming season.
