i will be going to a community college this fall (O8) i want to know if i should take all the core classes there so i can transfer to a 4-year university and major in biology and attend medical school but i heard that it is better to take some core classes at the university cuz med schools prefer people who do that ( it looks better on application)

  1. I would take your core classes.  DEFINITELY take Organic Chemistry while at community college...I'm not even kidding.  Get it out of the way!  Otherwise, take like two years of biology classes, depending on what is required for your major.  I'd suggest anatomy/physiology, maybe zoology or botany.  Then do some general education classes to get them out of the way, such as a language or English or communications, whatever is required.

  2. You are correct, medical schools prefer non-community college credit, and some won't accept it depending on the CC. The reason for not liking it as much is for the reason the first poster encourages you to do it, its easier. Less effort and a lower quality overview of the material. Med schools look at how many credits you are taking, and what they are. They like heavy course loads and hard classes that you get A's in. The classes you should definitely take in a real university are 2 gen bio, 2 gen chem, 2 gen physics, 2 organic chem, all with labs. 2 english, 2 calc, and one stats class are also good too.
