Question:

College Application Question?

by  |  earlier

0 LIKES UnLike

I was born with a hearing loss and while I will not need any special accommodations on campus I feel that this is an important part of me that admission officers should know about. However, I feel that there are more important things for me to write my essay on. Here is the question: Is there anyway, besides the essay, to let admission officers know about this?

Thank you in advance.

  4. I would let your professors know about it just in case you have problems hearing parts of the lectures. Also,I believe it would be a great essay to explain how although you have hearing loss that you have not let it become a dominant part of your life.Good luck in college!

  5. Hey, Yes there is. On college applications there is a section where you can tell the admission office something that can't be said anywhere else.  So that's one way.  You can also e-mail the cllr. at the colleges and ask them where is a good place to mention this information.  However, I would say that you should tie this into your college application essay because it would help you in the decision.

    Good luck

    Troublemaker :)

  6. On what topic will you write your essay? There might be a way to work in your hearing loss without making it the focus of your essay. For example, you could say something like, "As an individual who was born with hearing loss, I understand the importance of working through obstacles and overcoming challenges." Good luck!

  7. You could include  a  short cover letter with your application package and talk about yourself and your goals. You could also just touch on the issue in your essay-- without making it central to your subject matter.
