College Basketball power houses collide for NCAA Championship as Kentucky Wildcats take on Kansas Jayhawks
Nearly four months back, the NCAA season started off with 346 Division-1 teams and now we are down to the last two, with two of College Basketball`s best teams in the form of Kentucky Wildcats and Kansas Jayhawks facing off against
each other in the championship final.
With the biggest game of the season coming up both the teams will be looking to be at their best. These two Universities are known as the Mecca’s of College Basketball. Both schools have illustrious hoop record to boot and this
matchup has all the chances of being a great final at the grandest stage of all.
Kentucky, which is the number one seed coming into the game, saw off their cross town rivals Louisville to get to the final. On the other hand, Kansas who is the number 2 seed, saw off the Ohio State Buckeyes in the second semi-final.
Kentucky has been crowned the National Champions 7 time previously and with an experienced coach in John Calipari, who has reached final four stage, four times in his career, Kentucky look all set to win this championship final.
Anyone who regularly watches College Basketball will be putting their odds on Kentucky to win this one and based on the season they have had, they won’t be disappointed. Kentucky carved out an impressive 37-2 season with astounding
performances throughout the season.
With their star players like Anthony Davis (player of the year) and Michael Kidd-Gilchrist in good form, along with Doron Lamb and Terrence Jones who are sophomores, Kentucky look more like the championship team as compared to
their opponents.
But that does not mean that we should write the Jayhawks off. The boys from Kansas have had a pretty spectacular season themselves. Kansas have been National champions 3 times previously and with a 32-6 record this season, they
might just be able to pull off another upset.
Jeff Withey, Thomas Robinson, Tyshawn Taylor have been Jayhawks best players this season and come Monday night, all eyes will be on the troika.
The teams met each other once this season on November 15th at the Madison Square Garden. That time the Wildcats came out victorious by 75-65. In that game Anthony Davis had 14 points, Kidd-Gilchrist had 12 while Lamb
and Jones netted 17 and 15 respectively to lead the Wildcats.
