College Dorm Etiquette: Passing Gas?

Hahaha, funny topic I know. Or maybe I'm a tad immature. :P But this thought has been in my head for a while.

We all know how uncomfortable it is to hold gas for prolonged periods of time. I don't want to have to do that throughout my entire college life, haha. What is the best way to pass gas without coming across as gross or rude?

This is one of those awkward-turns to funny roommate conversations that you will have to have. Some roommates come up with code words for "don't come over here right now." Some roomies get offended. Feel out your roommate, and then bring up the conversation. Its going to happen, so it is better to be proactive and have a laugh about it.
