College Essays, Recommendations etc...?

We all know the basics your GPA, Test Scores ACT/SAT, EC are all important. And of course your college essays that gives the "personal" touch is, as well. However my question is... Is college essays and rec. just AS important as your grades or important but not on par with your GPA?

When you graduate from high school everything is going to be on your transcripts, also here in CA you have to take the chsee that means the california high school exit exam. The english part of this exam is graded 50% grammar, and 50% essay. Another thing is that when you go to college you will have to write a shitload of essays, and plagiarism is not a good idea at all.

I personally think that your college essay is the most important thing, it shows them your personality, and what type of person you are. It gives a personal touch to any appllication.
