  1. I am also a sophomre in highschool looking to play volleyball in college and i've been having a lot of success by going to the schools website, then click on their athletic section, find the volleyball website and on most of the pages there is a recruiting button and when you click on it it takes you to a survey you can fill out then submit to the head coach and then they will send scouts to look at you and have a way of contacting you. I also recommend making tapes so if a college is interested in you, you can send them tapese so the can see how you play over a season and not just one game. Good Luck hope you find a good school

  2. well you will have to take an SAT test to become eligible to be recruited by a D-1 program.  second ivy league schools do not issue athletic scholarships so you gotta be smart to get in.  Next you should go to the Internet and email the teams/schools you are interested in.  Most D-1 schools have an athlete interest information page you can download or fill out.  I would also suggest talking to your coaches and find out if you are D-1 material(sorry to kill your buzz), if you are play club VB in the summer.  Most college scouts will follow club tournaments.  Think about attending a summer VB camp at a school you might want to attend.  Make video tape of your practice, vertical jump, speed ladder workout, etc show them how good of an athlete you are.  Best of luck to you its the best indoor game.  Tell them in your emails your age grade, GPA, position you play, your team, coaches name, principals name, phone number, email, and why you want to play volleyball for them.

  3. Two good answers above here.

I will just add that you should go to the below sites and read about NCAA rules and regulations regarding recruiting.

As stated above, you should play club volleyball.  Most colleges do the majority of their recruiting during the spring.  They can go to the big tournaments and see hundreds of teams instead of going to big high school tournaments with 20 or 30 teams.

You will need to get a video tape ready.  You should include some footage of you playing.  And there should also be some footage of you practicing the skills.  You do not want to show a tape of you playing for hours.  Coaches will not watch that much coverage.  Make the tape with you doing some things.  Hitting, blocking, digging, serving and setting.  (If you are a setter.)  Show the same things in a practice.

  4. hey i am a senior and have already gone through this experience. i was also looking at ivy league schools. they make major exceptions for athletes. you should be getting mostly a's and b's. my biggest piece of advice for you would be to e-mail like crazy. it will seem so overwhelming but will definitely be worth it in the end. also, props to you for getting started early.. so just go to the college websites that you are interested in and get the coaches e-mail addresses and then e-mail them and express your interest. now is a really good time to start e-mailing them because they are out of season and they should respond within a couple of weeks if they are interested. they will more than likely ask you for a video of your skills so start thinking about making one. good luck! i really hope this helps you.. i know i could have used this help when i was looking for my college :)

  5. In Ivy league, everyone should be smarter than other students.

It is recommended that you play some club volleyball when possible, so that you can expose yourself to more recruiters. Email, letter, video tape of your games should all do its share.
