I have always understood the importance of extra-curriculars on you college transcripts. No, I am not one of those kids who does a whole bunch of them just to impress a college. Most that I am involved in I have a genuine interest for. I am just curious about something. I am learning the Gaelic language on my own accord. I was wondering if that was the kind of thing colleges would find intersting, or, because it is not involved with school or any other people, not important. I mean, its not a class at anyplace, I'm learning it on Rosetta Stone. Would they see this as something about me with any worth? How could I have it as something interesting about me. Would I have to say it in the interview?

  1. I would definitely include that because it's showing initiative on your part to take on something like that. Somewhere on your application it will probably ask you about any other languages you speak besides English, and if not, there is probably somewhere you can write in any additional information you want them to take into consideration when reviewing your application. You could include in there that you decided on your own to pursue learning the Gaelic language because (fill in the reason). That would be a definite plus if I were reviewing applications. Good luck!
