College Scholarship Question?

I'm going to be going to a college in Arkansas. I got some scholarship money and maybe i'll be getting some more...the college i'm going to has an approximate cost of $18,500 a year. I was talking to my friend about scholarships and she said the government puts a cap on how much you can accept in scholarships. She said it's about a $18,000 cap. Is there a cap in Arkansas or in the United States that says you can't accept more than a certain amount in scholarships? If so, what is it and where is that posted?

  1. You can go to

    http://www.all-about-scholarship.com

    it's about scholarships information.

    Good luck

  2. No u can have as many scholarships as you can get... Plus, they're not easy to get so... I don't think there's a such thing a too many...

  3. I've never heard of a scholarship limit. Considering that some scholarships award money over 18k, I doubt it.

  4. The max amount of assistance a person can receive in financial ais would be different for every person.  This amount may be correct for one particular school.... but not all of them.  You can not receive federal financial aid and scholarships IN EXCESS of the "cost of attendance" to that school.  The cost of attendance is much much more than just tuition and fees... it also includes transportation costs, books and supplies, personal items, computer, and can include daycare costs if a student has kids.... and other things I can't think of right now.

Go to your schools website and look for the estimated Cost of Attendance.  It is usually posted somewhere.. be sure you don't just use the number for the tuition costs.  You can get financial aid (grants, loans, scholarships, work study) up to the total of this amount.

A community college may have a cost of attendance of 12,000 while a private school may have a cost of attendance of 42,000

  5. No...

    I got a 65,000 $ scholarship to one school..

and then there are a bunch of other private scholarship opportunities you can go for. There shouldn't be any limit...even in Arkansas :-P.
