College/University gymnastics?

Hey, I was wondering how do you get on a college/ university gymnastics team. Do they host try-outs? Is it only by scholarship? What skill level are they at? For instance, if you wanted to do gymnastics at Brown University, how would you get on the team? Or Rutgers University? Just an example. I want to prepare so maybe I could compete gymnastics in college.

  1. Well if you want to be on a team , you should look online and contact some of the coachs of teams you want to maybe go on.  They dont really have try-outs but they may have cuts depending on the college and level of the team.  You dont need a scholarship... many are walk-ons who have talked to the coach before-hand.  You should be probably level 10 and a good one... to make a D-1 team, but for others that arent as competitive, you still need to know your stuff and be decent.  You can just try out with a backtuck and some giants or w/e

  2. well you would have to be at least a level 9.
