Do you really think getting a college education(undergrad or /and grad) really helps you get a salary increase or really prepared you to work in the career field you work in or do you think college is just a waste of time and money?

Im asking this because... I am a grad student... last week I went to my cousins home who has a newly built 5 bedroom home(home that are on television not an old aluminum siding 5 bedroom home.... I swear her house made me walk out feeling like I got motivate myself and change my college major because teaching isnt gonna get what she has) which is maybe $500,000 and her nor her husband have degrees.... meanwhile Im paying out money hoping I can have a decent living after I get another degree.... I am also a TA making only $20,000.00.... I guess not only do you have to have a degree but demand what you want too

I dont want a mansion or to be flashy ... but when I finish paying off loans I wanna live comfortably... and have something to show for

  1. LOL college is a waste of $ for those who aren't thinking about what they are going to be doing after college! High incomes are possible for tons of college majors like accounting, healthcare, finance etc!! Arts degrees teaching degrees and other things won't make too much of a difference in your income!  they academically enrich u but they do not help your marketability much!

People aren't going to pay big buxx for art music or teaching!  Accounting, law healthcare ETC are going to make u alot!  I am an accounting major and I will work at a big 4 when i graduate in 2 years.  I'll start at 60k then in 5 years i'll be at 100k plus after I get my CPA license.  15 years down the road if I continue to improve my skills then I can be partner at a CPA firm making 500k plus! =)  There is a high demand for qualified accountants because most drop out of the profession early because u work 60 hrs plus a week!

Any job that pays alot is going to be hard!  Well most of them!  Seriously do wat u want or do wat u can handle u don't want a job u hate just so u can buy more empty space (a bigger house).

It's pretty late to change your graduate major now! u will probably have to take out more loans!
