i am very confused about applying to college. if i want to apply to a university such as uc berkeley, do i apply to a specific school on that campus like the college of letters and science? or do i apply to the university as a whole? if the answer is that i have to apply to a specific college, why don't i see anything about that on the common application?

  1. UC berkeley is part of the UC system. There is a system wide application that you can complete when it becomes available in October or November. The deadline is November 30. You simply answer 3 questions in a combined total of 1000 words. On the application you check off which UC campuses you want to apply to, in your case you'd check off Berkeley. Although there is one application for all the UC schools, you must pay $60 per campus you send it to. You do not need a different application for the specific college within the University. The common application cannot be used for the UC system. Access the application on the University of California statewide website.
