College courses? Help in requirements!

My sister and I are selecting our courses for college, and I have problems understanding the requirements.

(My sister is attending USF, but I am a high school student taking Dual Enrollment (community college courses)

For General Requirements there are:

Social Sciences

Historical Perspectives

Fine Arts

ALAMEA

What courses would fit under those catagories? What are considered Fine Arts and ALAMEA?

(I signed up to take Hummanities and Psychology). But I don't know what category Hummanities fits under. What category does Hummanities fit under? What about Public Speaking, is that required?

I am hoping to major in computer engineering while my sister is majoring in biology.

  1. ask the college counselor, they can help you alot.

  2. Most schools have a list of acceptable courses under each category, so be careful about assuming you know what the requirements might be.  Clearly, ALAMEA is some kind of terminology used specifically by your college - it isn't common to all colleges - so there should be an explanation of what this includes in the school's bulletin or catalog (you can usually find this online).  Humanities generally includes things like English literature, foreign languages, classics, philosophy, history, and religion.  History seems to be required separately, so you probably can't use that to fill the humanities requirement as well, and this is one of those areas in which you really want to make sure the requirements cover ANY course in the humanities, rather than a list of 5-10 specific courses.
