College decision, which one?!?

So I completely decided to go to University of Tennessee-Knoxville, I was so excited, but then I found out that the BEST program which is a prepaid college thing, will only last for two years at UTK because of the room and board cost..so now I'm devastated..and my dad says if I really want to go, he can take money out of his 401k, which is something I don't want him to do because there's two siblings whose colleges need to be prepaid too! If I don't go to UTK, then I could go to MTSU, which is near my home, more convenient, saves money, but UTK is the much overall better school because I"m going to major in chemistry or biology.I could go to MTSU, then transfer over to UTK, but I don't know, is transferring a smart move? I've already signed up at UTK for my classes and stuff but I haven't paid for my tuition yet.

  1. During your first two years at UTK, save up by working independently or through a student-work program, and try to apply for as many grants and scholarships through your sophomore to pay for junior year, and then do the same junior year for senior year.  You may be able get scholarships through your department at school to, apply for as much as possible.

Go to community college for 2 years, take all general educations courses, then transfer to UTK and all your general ed.'s will be out of the way and you can start on your major.  You also will be able to work and save money to cover the rest of the cost of UTK, hope this helps
