I live in Virginia, and if i went to a well known university like Virginia Tech as opposed to Christopher Newport University, and studied/majored in computer science at either, would there be any difference after I'm done and received my degree?

I guess my question is, does getting a degree at one place put you in a better position than another when applying for a job, or do they just know you have a masters in this subject.

  1. yeah duh

  2. I'm in a similar predicament.  I go to UC Davis, and the well-known university around here is UC Berkeley.  I honestly don't think it matters where they go - An employer would rather hire a Davis grad than a Berkeley grad with a lower GPA.  Also, if you are proud of your school and your college experience, your degree will be that much more valuable.  It's not WHERE you get your degree, but it's where YOU get your degree, if you know what I mean?

    Best of luck!  go CNU!

  3. just because its a well known college doesnt make the program good. every school has a few majors that they focus on and make them their highlights. you have to research each school to see which program is better.
