College dorm decisions?

I will be a college freshman in three years and I'm having a little issue here, mostly concerning housing...at my hoped-for university, (IUP) freshman are required to live on campus, and I don't know what to make of the dorm situation there. They are demolishing traditional dorm buildings which tend to have cheaper rates and building expensive suite-style dorms in their place-with the individual unit bathrooms, carpeting, etc.

However I am really pressed for cash and, I'm worried that the traditionals they have left will be all booked, and I'll be stuck paying close to $4000 per semester for one of the suites. Should I stake a claim at one of the old halls or wait for one of the new buildings?

  1. it is still a long way away. save all you can and apply for scolarships

  2. well chances are that if they are demolishing the dorm buildings, they aren't going to make the new ones too much more expensive or that wouldn't be fair.  since it is so far away i wouldnt' do anything yet, you have no idea what the situation might be like in 3 years plus, who knows- what if you find another school you like even more- 3 years is a long time.
