Question:

College graduation party in 6 days...What am I forgetting?

I am so bad at putting things off & now I feel like I'm forgetting something:

Most of the food is catered by a BBQ place. I am supplementing with chips and salsa, potato salad and veggie trays.

Beverages: Beer, wine, pop, bottled water & a giant jug of premixed margaritas

I still need to borrow some tables and chairs, but I know who I'm getting them from.

I have:

ice

plastic glasses

vinyl table covers

plastic forks/knives

graduation napkins (cocktail & dinner size)

matching plates (cake & dinner)

matching yard signs & decorations

bakery cake (picking up the day of)

balloon bouquets centerpieces

bean bag toss & ladder ball game, frisbees & sidewalk chalk for adults and kids

CDs for music

Anything else I should have? We will have 7 out of town guests staying with us. I just want to be able to focus on cleaning/getting the house ready & not worry about having to run to the store 50 times the day of the party.

Thanks!

  1. You should have an area for kids so the adults can hang out and talk to. make sure you have plenty of places to sit having extra things will never hurt you. bags of things people can take home or take extra food home that you wont eat. make sure the music is right and that nothing skips just try to stay calm and relax the day of

  2. Don't forget your own camera/camcorder and charged batteries! You might also want to pick up a few disposable cameras so people can take pictures, then have them developed for the grad. Do you have a table already designated for presents? If your party will be going into the evening you might want to have some citronella candles and bug spray on hand.

Your games sound great but our family also loves to play cards so I'd have a few decks at the ready. Sounds like you're going to have fun!

  3. You need to make sure the graduate has lot of thank you notes on hand so they can be sent RIGHT AWAY after receiving any gifts at the party.

And really, next time, you should use reusable utensils and plates, etc.  Think of all the waste this party is putting into a landfill!  You can find inexpensive stuff at Target and next time, you'll be all ready without having to make a special shopping trip!

  4. What are you going to play the Cd's on?

You will need a larger knife to cut the cake.

Bring foil, or something to wrap up the extra food.

    garbage bags

paper towels (to clean up spills)

    small first aid kit

whether you are having it at a park or at your home, make sure you have plenty of toilet paper!

coolers to store the ice, soda's and beer.

maybe coffee for after dinner (cream and sugar).
