College grants question?

ok if you get a college grant can u use it at any college even if its outta state? can some1 plz tell me how that works?? cuz i know if you get a loan u can go to watever college u want but i wasnt sure if it was the same way with grants... comments plzzzzz

  1. Unless the grant you receive specifies that you must attend a certain college you can basically choose whichever college you would like to attend even if it is out of state.  


  2. Depend on what type of grant your  talking about. If it's a federal grant from Fafsa, they would calculate on how much you should get base on the school tuition you applied for. For example, If you applied to an expensive college, then your grant will a lot. But if you want to go to a cheap school then your grant would be less or maybe none. This was the case for me. I could go to a community college but have no grant and financial aid, or I could go to a private school and have a grant. I took the private university.

    Also check out what type of grant it is. If the college is giving you the grant then no you only could use it for that specific college.

    I'm not 100% sure about everything. I would recommend calling each colleges financial aid office


  3. It depends on what kind of grant you get.  Out of state tuitions are more expensive.
