College in Canada?

I know in the US the full-time hours are compromised by just about 4 classes (12 hours) For undergrad and 3 classes (9 hours) for graduate classes.

How is this in comparison to Colleges in Toronto? What is considered fulltime and what part time? I am considering doing a Post-Graduate Certificate in Youth Corrections and Interventions at Durham college.

  1. depends on the college and program.  i know for my program im about 27 hours a week, but some others are around 19ish.. i havent heard of many, esp. colleges that have only 12 hours a week.

  2. Not to rain on your parade, but...............

Have you considered that the Durham College program will be based on the Canadian court systems  and  our Canadian  Criminal  code ? Only one example will be the Youth Criminal Justice Act, which is the NATIONAL framework, in Canada for youth crime. Nothing in the USA comes anywhere close to that statute.

In Canada we have ONE Criminal Code, that applies in ALL  parts of the entire country. Compare that to the USA where EACH state has it's own criminal code, plus the Federal statutes.

How will that  course  certificate translate to the USA ? Not very well I think.

Perhaps I just saved you a lot of money?
