In CA you are not allowed to major in education, but the state allows you to minor in it. If I wanted to become an elementary school teacher in CA, would a bachelors degree in any subject with a minor in education plus my multiple subject teaching credential be sufficient to become an elementary school teacher??

  1. Most likely.  I suggest Psychology for your major.

  2. You could do a lot of different majors, as long as you pass your CBEST and CSET to get into your credential program.  However, for elementary teachers, Liberal Studies is the best bet as your major, because it covers every subject that you will be teaching.  Good luck!
