  1. Do what pleases you.  The income earnings potential is not strong.  Unless you can get a job through a friend.

  2. I did anthropology, then my Phd in it. I followed an academic career (research and professor) for a while then went into my own business - management consultancy. I now do training and coaching using anthropology and I sell my book on coaching - www.coaching-coaches.com

Management consultancy is much of a muchness - they're all the same but anthropology gave me a huge advantage over everyone else because it teaches you (like nothing else does) to take a view from many different (relative) perspectives. No other course can do this in a systematic way.

If you do anthropolgy you will no doubt love it and it will set your mind free to think in ways that others just can't do. Iv'e done it  so I know. I've had several careers now - which suits me as I get bored very easilly.

Could I have established my own businesses without it - probably. Would I have had so much fun in the process - no way!. Do it! You'll be spoilt for choice with the opportunities you'll notice that you can make a significant and unusual contribution to.

Look at the companies now employing anthropologists Google, Apple, AT&T, Intel, ++++++ what as? anthropologists of course!

  3. Unless your parents intend to support you for the rest of your life, you may actually have to worry about what kind of jobs your major will qualify you for.  Actually, I think anthropology is extremely interesting, but I think its one of those degrees which will require a masters or PhD to get a job.
