http://www.senore.com/Cricket/Mumbai-c820 police have arrested a college student, Shoyeb Doodhwala, for allegedly using the ATM card of Indian Legend, Sachin Tendular.
The youngster was withdrawing money from an ATM in South Mumbai, where a Police constable found the 21-year-old acting suspiciously. After keeping a close eye for a while, Dhoodhwala was confronted and frisked.
Upon checking, the constables found Rs.8640 (Indian Rupees), which the boy first denied to have, and also four debit cards (including having the owner titled as Sachin), along with a fake driving license.
Shocked to see the name of the Master Blaster on the card, the Police inquired about the belongings, where Dhoodhwala said that he got the card from a bus stop in the outskirts of the town. However, after a preliminary investigation they took the boy under
custody and charged him with forgery.
“Doodhwala has been booked for cheating, forgery, and using a forged document. Investigations are on in the case,” said VB Patil, senior inspector, Bhoiwada police station.
Also Patil said that they have notified the respective banks to provide the necessary details on order to check whether the cards truly belongs to little master.
"We have sought the bank to provide details whether the card belongs to Sachin or whether the bank has ever issued such a card. We will get in touch with Sachin after we get the bank's report. Meanwhile we are also getting details of whether he filed any
complaint for loss of card," Patil said.
The legend is currently on International duty with his team in http://www.senore.com/Cricket/England-c56013, where they will play the third Test match of the series on August 10, 2011. He however, has a much bigger task than the Mumbai police, as his side currently trails 2-0, and will be hoping
for the veteran to play a long innings.
As for his debit card, the investigations are ongoing and it will be also interesting to know whether the 38-year-old has any idea about the whole saga.
For now, Dhoodwala will be kept under police custody before a final verdict will be given on the issue in the coming few days.
