Okay. I'm so not organized. I do my homework late but it gets done. Grades are ok. Below a 3.0 sadly. Im in 10th. If I do great my jounior and senior year and do good on the acts is there a chance I can get into ohio state? I play tennis and take honors classes 2.

Give I get myself together do I have a chance or no?

You can be real to just asking.

I live in ohio and I would be considered a minority.

I know I wouldn't be able to get a full scholarship but will I be able to be on campus?

Do you think I could get any grants?

  1. You may be granted if you keep your grades higher than what you've got right now. Have an average of 2.0, this will surely have your scholarship granted in any schools you wished for.

Focus & study harder coz, it will be for your own good, honey. No one else will get that benefit, but you.

    Good luck.

  2. Ok well first DO YOUR HOMEWORK GET ORGANIZED otherwise you will not be going to Ohio State.I'm guessing that you have a ton of friends so have a sleepover and when it is late ask questions on review so it wont seem like your a geek SO THAT YOU CAN HAVE FREE TUTORING. . try to get REALLY GOOD at tennis so that you can get a scholarship also show your true colors and i know you will be able to get a grant.....GOOD LUCK

  3. Right now, you're just learning to organize yourself and to get yourself in place. Once in your senior years, workload will increase and you'de probably want to participate in more extra-cicular activites to get into college. So for now, just worry about managing and priortizing your time as in your senior year, it'll help you a lot to adjust. And don't worry, you have tons of time to do well and you can get into any college you want as long as y keep working hard. GoodLuck!

  4. Yes you have a real good chance plus you take honors classes. Honestly you really need to do your best these next to years. No playing around. They don't always look for kids that can have the best grades all the time as long as you realize what you need to do to get to the next step. Some ppl jut try to get by with a 2.5 or Just to pass. Please get yourself together because you will have a better like when you graduate college. So please do your best and don't toss your like away because you want to have fun and party/hang out with your friends. IT'S NOT WORTH IT ‹(•¿•)›

  5. if your parents make decent money (typically $50,000 and over) you will get c**p for financial aid. if they make less, you'll get more money. you can go to fastweb.com and scholarships.com, as well as talk to your guidance counselor about financial aid. your school also should have financial aid night when you're a junior. drag your parents along and go! it's quite informative. if you improve your grades and do a ton of extracurricular and community work, you should be able to get in. donating your time to your community looks really good to colleges!!!

  6. Actually, you're not in as bad shape as you think.

    Two thoughts --

    1)  Go to the website for Ohio State and find out their specific entrance requirements.  That will give you exact guidelines to focus on.

    2)  As a back-up plan, see what community or jr. colleges in the area may have TAG agreements with Ohio State.  These are agreements that guarantee automatic acceptance to the 4-year school, with certain minimum GPA requirements, upon completion of an associates degree.  The up-side is that you get college credit, the courses may be a little easier, it is cheaper per credit hour for perfectly useful credits, and you have a guaranteed get-in for the university of your choice.  It can also be easier to get scholarship funds.

Pell grants are based on income, not GPA.  Also, every school has school-specific scholarships.  Most schools have minority scholarships.  Then, a lot of businesses have private minority scholarships.  Being in honors should give you access to a bunch of these, so talk to your honors advisors!  I've seen lists of pages and pages of minority scholarship.

The better your GPA, the better your chances, so it's worth doing everything possible to pull it up.  But don't believe it's impossible.  If your GPA is 2.0, yep, I'd be concerned.  But if you're in honors you can't be doing too bad.  ;-)
