  1. Studying is the independant variable and GPA is the dependant vaiable because the students GPA is dependant on the amount of studying they do.

  2. Society measures college graduates and attending students by their GPA. The independent variable is that a person with a high GPA can earn up to 75% more than a person without a college education or a low GPA. The dependant varible is, with a low GPA, the student can still be acknowledged and noticed for their acheivements, but another person with a higher GPA can be considered a better candidate. Sometimes it boils down to which classes cost you the most points.

Then their are the academic expectations you have to face too. If you fall below a certain GPA, you could be expelled from school or put on probation. Not to mention scholarships take away from you. However; in the end you have to worry about a job's expectations. They normally look for a 3.0 or better on an application. The higher the GPA, the better the oppertunity (Morsch, 2007).

  3. in simple terms, studying is the independent variable, and GPA is the dependent variable, because ideally, studying will affect your GPA.  Your GPA is "dependent" on your studying, hence it is the dependent variable.

However.... this is a very simplistic inference! Correlation does not equal causation.  I know lots of people who study little and get A's because they have good memories, and people who study their butts off but still get Cs and Bs because it just doesn't come naturally to them.

  4. i forget.. and i just took a test on that too
