Question:

Colleges for Physics/Astronomy major?

I want to major in physics and eventually become an astronomer. I'm currently at a community college for financial reasons and have exhausted all resources trying to find a way to pay for my transfer to a private university. I was curious if it would negatively effect me if I went to an average university for my B.S and a more prestigious school for graduate study. I know astronomy can be a very competitive field. How will I hold up without a Bachelor's from an Ivy Leauge school?

  1. Coming from a community college will be difficult. You don't need to transfer to a private university, though--why not transfer to a state college? That looks much better than a CC.

If you want to go to a good grad school, and you go to a community college, you need the top grades and top scores--like a 4.0 or so.
