Colleges in Southern United States?

What are some colleges in southern united states that are well known or popular and have high standards you know like the way people think of havard and berkeley and princeton and yale and stuff? well what are some of those down here in the south? like around texas, florida, stuff like that?

In the southeast, schools like Duke University (the most famous southeastern school), Vanderbilt University, University of Virginia, Georgia Tech, Washington University in St. Louis, and others are very selective and are the elite schools of the south. If you are talking about the southwest, Rice University and University of Texas are very good schools too. Do you live in the south or are you interested in schools in that region?

in my state Georgia, we have Emory and UGA as far as well known and pretty high standards also Vanderbilt, UF, FSU that's all I can think of but there are many smaller less famous school that offer a great education

The most prestigious school in the South is Duke University in Durham, NC which is routinely ranked in the top ten of all US schools. Some other schools that are highly regarded are Emory, Vanderbilt, and some state schools, UNC at Chapel Hill, U of Virginia, U of Florida. If you mean SouthWest then you would also have to include Rice University in Texas and possible UTexas.
