Question:

Collegiate made in India?

I purchased a Collegiate bridle assuming it was made in Argentina like the saddle. I pd 60$ for it.

Turns out it is stamped INDIA. There is a white, waxy looking residue on it.

What is it?

Do you have any experience with these bridles? How do they hold up? Thanks.

  1. you were scamed...get a refund unless you want it!!!

  2. I've heard a lot of hearsay, but not an ounce of real evidence that saddlery made in India is inferior.  I sure would like to know where all of these opinions come from.  Exactly what is wrong with the leather.....no one ever explains their resources, or where they get their information from.  Why is something made in India inferior?  Most of their stuff is way better than stuff coming from right here in the USA...labor there is cheap....they can make inexpensive stuff that would cost double if it was made here.

    I don't own one....and I wouldn't listen to advice from anyone who doesn't.

The synthetic saddle I bought for my grandson was made in India.  The tree is full qh bars with a 10" seat...perfect for my stocky paint and my little grandson.  The tree is excellent, the saddle is well constructed for a low end saddle....nothing wrong with it.  It's the only thing I have from India...and it's fine.  I would prefer buying American made, but no one offered a full qh tree with a 10" seat unless it was custom and big money.  I don't need a custom big pricetag saddle for a 4 year old child.

  3. The white stuff is WAX.  Liquid glycerin will take it off (Leather New, etc.) and elbow grease.  Being cheaper leather, you should get about a year or so's consistant use on it with good care.
