Collingwood's Dale Thomas - What is his problem?

I have watched him on the Footy Show a few times. Do they purposefully put him on to show the lack of grey matter of some footballers?

He can hardly put three words together; he has trouble pronouncing a double syllable word; he looks as comfortable in a shirt & tie as a chimpanzee would; & the most annoying of all he twiddles with a pen the whole time he is on camera (watch him next time he's on!) .....but I think that must be a carryover from all the time he spends twiddling with an appendage, he has, that is shaped similar to a pen!

Dale gets really nervous in front of cameras and in front of a large audience. Pretty sure that's the reason why he can not speak correctly.

Look down at the Cats, we give all our players elocution lessons so they know how to handle the media better. Can you pass onto Dale that he's welcom to come and play down here so he can join in. I think I'd like a midfield of Bartel, Ablett, Thomas, Ling, .... oh yeah - that's got a nice ring to it. I'll almost guarantee you that we can give him a run in the seniors.

We can also arrange a plentiful supply of pens or anything else he'd like to fiddle with!!

I think it is a ploy of the footy show hierarchy to introduce new blood on the show, give him time he will improve. Look at Eddy, he left the show and hasn't improved.

One of the most talented young footballers in the league, a future Collingwood captain, legions of adoring fans at such a young age...I would be lost for words too. You are quick to criticise but I would bet the highlight of your c.v. is finishing Grade 10. CARN THE PIES!!!

Dale Thomas is such a cutie, he isn't the sort of personality like Crawf or Aker so he dioesn't make a huge fuss on the Footy Show. He is still young and like many players might not like alot of media attention. I think he does a fine job when he is on the footy show =)

Dunno about Footy Show but I wish he hadn't shown up for the Swans v. Pies show last Saturday night. He was brilliant and if he can keep up that standard so what if he is a bit "lost for words" when facing the media.

I agree He is probaly very nervous.

I'm quite a shy person and when people are talkign to me and I've never really talked to them I tend to say stupid things and fiddle with my fingers. But If you got to know me you wouldn't think I was shy and you would notice I'm quite loud around my friends.

So using myself as an example yer he probaly could try a bit harder but he's just not very comfortable no matter how many times he goes on.

Dale Thomas has achieved more than you could in your entire life. He might be shy, but he comes when it really matter: on the field. He kicks the goals, he takes the marks while you stand and berate him for trivialities.

He's only 21 years old, and I think he handles the publicity he gets very well for such a young player. I was at Collingwood training today, and he was very polite to all the supporters. He may just be suffering from some nerves on the Footy Show, but I think he does a great job.

Maybe he cant speak properly because he doesn't have a chin, he plays ok footy though, he should stick to that.

I hate collingwood.

But I don't mind him off the feild. He is only young and plus if I was in the same room as Sam I would be feeling very very nervous.

well the footy show normally has more of the senior players like from essendon they get lloyd and mcveigh

i duno why they have thomas:S

maybe coz he's young and scared of all the cameras lol or maybe coz he's scared of sammy
