suppose a wedge is attached to a spring(spring is attached to vertical side of wedge perpendicular to it, and other end of spring is attached to a rigid support)
now, a small ball is dropped vertically on the inclined part of wegde(not normal to inclined plane), collides elastically and goes in horizontal direction,
my question is that will the wedge bounce?(ie will it leave the ground?)consider mass of the ball. ALL SURFACES ARE FRICTIONLESS. This question is of elastic collision in 2D.
As far I have thought of this, considering all the impulsive forces, wedge should bounce but still not sure.
I know that in 2D elastic collision, momentum in perpendicular direction to impulsive force remains conserved.
