Newcastle United skipper, Fabricio Coloccini will miss the Magpies crucial league game against Liverpool on Sunday, after being sidelined with a hamstring injury.
The 30 year old defender suffered the injury during his side’s 3-1 victory against West Bromwich Albion at the Hawthorns. He was substituted during the halftime break, in order to avoid aggravating his injury.
The Newcastle boss, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alan-c4244 Pardew also confirmed that Coloccini will miss the match against the Reds on Sunday and thought that the injury might keep him out of action for the next three to four games.
"We might lose him for three or four games, so it could be difficult without him," Pardew told the club's official website.
"We will have to cross our fingers and hope that he's going to be OK for the run-in. He's certainly not going to make next week [against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809] - I'm 100% sure of that.” He added.
The player is expected to undergo a scan on Tuesday in order to fully assess the nature and extent of his injury.
The player from http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Argentina-c2841 said that he is willing to sit out a couple of matches but hoped that he will be back in action for his team very soon. He also mentioned that he is not going to rush making a comeback as it may exacerbate his
injury.
"Of course, I don't want to take a risk. Maybe I get a worse injury if I take a risk, and could be out for three or four weeks.” He said.
"We'll see what happens. I always want to play - we'll see what the scan says."
Newcastle beat West Brom 3-1 in their previous match which helped Coloccini’s side go level with Chelsea, on 50 points from 30 matches. The Argentine praised the effort of his side and was hopeful over the fact that his side could build
on their victory against the Baggies. He also mentioned that it was a crucial victory for the Magpies as they had a poor run of five to six games and the victory puts them back on track.
Newcastle beat Norwich City 1-0 in the match before, but the Magpies skipper believed that his side’s performance during that game was not up to mark. However, he was relieved that they managed to come out unscathed and got away with three
points from the match.
Newcastle are currently sixth in the Premier League table and are tied with fifth placed http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 on points. Pardew has hailed the performance of his team this season and believes that the Magpies can still make a lot out of the remaining
eight matches.
It is the first time since the 2005/2006 season that Newcastle have reached the 50 point mark in the league.
