Question:

Colombian, Guatemalan or Vietnamese adoption?

I am interested in either adopting a little girl from Colombia, Guatemala or Veitnam.

Does anyone have any stories about personal experiences or referances to a good agency?

Thank you.

  1. No agency can prepare you for a lifelong mistake. Make sure the kid is right for you.  You'll need a picture and a complete history, even of the family health and etc...

  2. The website http://www.precious.org has photos and information about many Guatemalan babies available for adoption, with links and contact information for a number of agencies.  You could start there and call or e-mail the relevant agencies with your questions.

  3. You should choose an agency that has more than one international program.   International adoption is constantly changing, and a country that is open today may not be open tomorrow.  Here is an excellent agency that I used to adopt my daughter from China....they have programs in all three countries you are considering:

Of the programs you are considering, Guatemala is currently the easiest and shortest, and has the youngest babies available.  But they are also the most expensive of the three.  Colombia has the longest stay in-country, and Vietnam just recently re-opened after being closed for a couple of years, so I don't know how things are there now.

    Good luck!
