I'm wondering if anyone could tell me if having my colonoscopy during the third week of my menstual cycle (possible week of implantation) is a no-go or not? it's day 21 for me and i had a negative pregnancy test this a.m. but have been ttc for 14 months now. I've had some blood in my stools is the reason for the g.i.

  1. It is an issue to the extent that the medications used to sedate you may have an impact on a fetus -- so please talk to your doctor in advance, and decide if you need to repeat the pregnancy test closer to the date of your procedure.

  2. The colonoscopy would not be the issue. The question to ask is about the prep method as the chemicals consumed to clear the intestines could effect your electrolyte balance.  I am not sure how that could effect it.  If you are passing blood the doctors need to talk to each other as the priority should be your health before getting you pregnant.

If the blood in the stools is red it is most likely in the area of the a**s or r****m (possibly internal hemorrhoids).

  3. this is a good question to ask your doctor.
